Music has got many different dynamics and goes through many rudiments before it’s produced. For most music consumers, what they care about is the final product without considering what actually is the composition of the music.
That is why we at kobbykyeinews.com have taken it upon ourselves, as our way of helping the industry to review the various sounds being produced and analyse the music for consumers to appreciate what it takes to make music while also educating upcoming musicians on some music techniques they can employ to produce better sounds.
On our review desk today is Stonebwoy’s Le Gba Gbe (Alive) which is off his ‘Anloga Junction’ album. Let’s go…The piece is in D minor. The composer used only two chords in this particular music. They are chord one (1) and chord seven (7) to be specific.
Voicing
The composer used only singing. He made use of compositional devices like duetting with some call and response.
Instrumentation
The instrumentation of the piece was as good as it could be. The composer decided to use a minor key because the story behind this song is one full of emotions and trauma. The instrumentation truly fits the story that is why the composer decided to use a minor key. This is however my hypothesis. But it is a plus here because he made use of a key signature which defines the story.
Aesthetics
The beauty as far as this song is concerned is a nice one because you can clearly see that the story ended with life, where one of the eyes was opened. The composer decided to do that to also depict the title of the piece. That is also a good one. I think there was no much problem as far as aesthetics is concerned. The title was clearly depicted. The composer decided not to do any rhythmic improvisation not because he did not know but because he knew what he was up to. He wanted the message to be clear. So, that was why he decided not to use a Major key but rather minor take note. I will grade this piece as an ‘A’ piece.
Suggestions and recommendations
I always say that music is an art and it must be treated as such. Aesthetics is very important as far as music is concerned because that is what motivates consumers to patronize a particular piece. Take note. Very important. I suggest that before anyone thinks of bringing out a song for public consumption, composers should think about the mode and style and how to aesthetically use them to depict the message they want to communicate. This is very essential as far as music is concerned.
